The price of edible oil has increased in the country's market. Traders have increased the price of bottled soybean oil by six taka per liter. In addition, the price of palm oil has been increased by 13 taka per liter. At the same time, the price of open soybean oil has increased by three taka.

On Monday (October 13, 2025), the Bangladesh Vegetable Oil Refiners and Banaspati Manufacturers Association issued a press release increasing the price of edible oil.

Earlier, last August, there was tension between the government and the Ministry of Commerce over the price of edible oil. Traders proposed to increase the price of soybean oil by 10 taka per liter. However, the Ministry of Commerce allowed them to increase it by only one taka. The traders were angry at this and did not inform the media about this in any press release, as per the government's instructions.

However, the traders took this decision to increase the price through a new meeting with the Ministry of Commerce.

According to the new prices, the price of bottled soybean oil per liter has increased from 189 taka to 195 taka, the price of raw soybean has been increased by 3 taka to 177 taka, and the price of palm oil has been increased by 13 taka to 163 taka. In addition, the price of 5 liters of bottled soybean oil has been fixed at 945 taka.

It is to be noted that the new price will be effective from October 14.
