Malaysian Palm Oil Green Conservation Foundation (MPOGCF) donated RM49,350 to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) in Sepilok, Sandakan in Sabah.

This donation is in support of MPOGCF’s efforts to conserve the Bornean sun bear which is increasingly at risk of extinction.

MPOGCF believes that the rehabilitation and release programme implemented by BSBCC is a sustainable and high-impact conservation model.

The foundation’s contribution was presented by Plantations and Commodities Ministry deputy secretary-general (strategic planning and management) Datuk Abdul Hadi Omar to BSBCC founder and chief executive officer Dr Wong Swie Te.

Abdul Hadi is also a member of the MPOGCF board of trustees.

Also participating in the visit to the centre in Sepilok were ministry deputy secretary-general (plantations and commodities) Datuk Razali Mohamad, Malaysian Cocoa Board director-general Datuk Dr Ramli Kasin, MPOGCF board of trustees members Dr Ramlee Moslim and Andy Lee Yiew Meng and MPOGCF general manager Hairulazim Mahmud.

The foundation’s involvement in BSBCC shows the seriousness and determination of Malaysian palm oil industry players in the preservation and conservation of national treasures.
