The government has reduced the price of palm oil by 19 taka per liter to 150 taka. Commerce Secretary Mahbubur Rahman gave this information at a press conference at the meeting room of the Ministry of Commerce at the Secretariat on Tuesday (August 12, 2025).
He said that it was not possible to reduce the price of soybean oil at the moment because the price of soybean oil in the international market has not decreased. However, the price of palm oil has been reduced by 19 taka per liter to 150 taka.
He also said that the Trade and Tariff Commission monitors the supply and demand of edible oil in the international and local markets. As the price of palm oil has recently declined in the international market, the price of open palm oil per liter has been reduced from 169 taka to 150 taka on the recommendation of the commission. In this, consumers will be able to buy palm oil at a price of 19 taka per liter. However, soybean oil will remain unchanged at 189 taka per liter (bottle).
